I’ll be presenting a poster on some work Xiaofei Zheng did as his Master project under my supervision at this year’s Conference on Spatial Information Theory. We compared POI coverage in Melbourne of OpenStreetMap and the WhereIs route planner. Accordingly, the poster is entitled: A Comparative Study of POI Coverage between WhereIs and OpenStreetMap.

I have contributed a chapter to this book about How Using Location-Based Services Affects Our Understanding of Our Environment.
Our paper The Impact of Classification Approaches on the Detection of Hierarchies in Place Descriptions has been published in the AGILE conference proceedings that appeared in Springer’s Lecture Notes in Geoinformation and Cartography.
Daniela presented our work last week at the conference in Leuven, Belgium.
Our paper Locating place names from place descriptions has now been published in the International Journal of Geographical Information Science.
Since April 2013, I am a Senior Lecturer (Oberassistent) in the Geographic Information Visualization and Analysis group at the Department of Geography, University of Zurich, Switzerland.

It will become part of the special issue on the Scholarship and Impacts of Professor David M. Mark.
